Domaine de Beaurenard er et familieejet vinhus med rødder tilbage til 1600-tallet og daglig base i Châteauneuf-du-Pape. I Rasteau har de dog også vinmarker hvor der dyrkes vinstokke på ler- og kalkholdige terrasser i varmt, solrigt klima. De har været økologisk og biodynamisk de seneste 14 år ca. Vinen vinificeres derfor også ud fra principperne om lav intervention og kontakt til naturen. Vi snakker håndhøst, spontan gæring og lagring ca 12 mdr på en blanding af hhv. tank, egefade og store foudres.

Her er der vin med pondus og slagkraft! rasteau er kendt for at levere kraftige rødvine, og det her er ingen undtagelse. Det buldrer løs med modne mørke kirsebær, tyk blommemarmelade, peber og lakridspulver. Intens duft! I munden er det knastørt, med nærmest støvede tanniner. Der viser sig også en god balance mellem den moderate syre, og tyngden og varmen i eftersmagen. Det var en julevin der i dén grad klarede skærene!

Domaine de Beaurenard is a family-owned winery with roots going back to the 17th century, based in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In Rasteau, they also own vineyards where old vines are grown on clay- and limestone-rich terraces in a warm, sunny climate. They have been organic and biodynamic for around the past 14 years. The wine is therefore vinified according to principles of low intervention and close interaction with nature. We’re talking hand-harvesting, spontaneous fermentation, and around 12 months of aging in a mix of tanks, oak barrels, and large foudres.

This is a wine with real weight and punch! Rasteau is known for delivering powerful red wines, and this is no exception. It comes rumbling in with ripe dark cherries, thick plum jam, pepper, and liquorice powder. Intense aromatics! On the palate it is bone-dry, with almost dusty tannins. There’s also a fine balance between the moderate acidity and the weight and warmth in the finish. A Christmas wine that truly delivered under pressure!
