Villa Antinori kan, med måske lidt god vilje, betegnes som Toscanas kongefamilie. Et af de ældste huse, og i dag symboliserer det nok mere forretning end landbrug. Dog rummer de lange vintraditioner og har altid været på toppen af gamet. Denne ellers lidt usexede Rosso IGT er dog ingen undtagelse. Det er internationale druer i et blend med sangiovese, hvor druerne høstes ved optimal modenhed, afstilkes og gæres i temperaturstyrede ståltanke, med maceration. Efterfølgende lagrer den på franske og ungarske egetræsfade, hvor den runder hjørnerne af på den krydrede Toscana-vibe.

Lad os få den i glasset… Jamen altså, nu er foråret her, og violerne kommer til mig i næsen, sammen med sure brombær og knækket tomatstilk. Balanceret alkohol, en dejlig syre som virkelig får lov at brede sig i munden, med milde tanniner. Villa Antinori har styr på deres håndværk, og deres nok mest tilgængelige vin er ingen undtagelse. Det er rigtig stor drikkeglæde, for en ganske god pris.

Villa Antinori can – perhaps with a bit of goodwill – be described as Tuscany’s royal family. One of the oldest houses, and today it probably represents business as much as agriculture. Still, it carries deep winemaking traditions and has consistently been at the top of its game. This otherwise somewhat unassuming Rosso IGT is no exception. It’s an international blend combined with Sangiovese, where the grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, destemmed, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with maceration. It is then aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels, which smooth out the edges and add that classic spicy Tuscan vibe.

Let’s get it in the glass… Well then – spring has arrived, and violets immediately come through on the nose, alongside tart blackberries and a hint of snapped tomato stem. The alcohol is well balanced, and there’s a lovely acidity that really spreads across the palate, supported by gentle tannins. Villa Antinori clearly knows their craft, and their most accessible wine is no exception. This is pure drinking pleasure at a very fair price.
